(Look for me baby)
Well you can search high and low if you want
But you won't find me
(Look for me baby)
Well, you search the mountains
Look in the sea
Look all around the world
But you won't find a love
A love like mine
You'll be low
And cry misery[?]
'Cause you got no love
(Look for me baby)
In your desperation
You're going to look for someone else
Well now, search the mountains
Search the sea
Look around the world
But you won't find me
(Look for me baby)
You'll be looking for me
(Look for me baby)
Well now, I've never felt so sad
I've never had it so bad
You'll search the oceans
But you won't find me no more
You'll be looking for me
(Look for me baby)
Well you can search high and low if you want
But you won't find me
(Look for me baby)
Well you can climb the mountains
And swim in the sea
Look all around the world
But you won't find a love
A love like mine
You'll be low
And cry misery
'Cause you got no love
(Look for me baby)
In your desperation
You're going to look for someone else
Well now, search the mountains
Search the sea
Look around the world
But you won't find me
(Look for me baby)
You'll be looking for me
(Look for me baby)
You'll be looking for me
(Look for me baby)
You'll be looking for me
(Look for me baby)
The Kinks-Look For Me Baby 1965 (02:19)
One Of The Great Bands Of All Time.Another Classic
I think I know what you mean. I was thinking of the bells as church bells, in an intimate (and innocent) village setting. That's where the girl came from. And that's where she wanted to go back to, but sadly didn't.

"Naive girl heads for the big city and gets corrupted" => Polly, Starstruck, this one...they sure sang it well !
I ever thought the bells were only there to give a parochial aspect to the song. In a way, it also seems to remember where the girl is gone from. This is how I feel it
PS : hoping my comment is well written :D

First time I heard this was on Anthology of Recorded Events- a beautiful double album of their 60s stuff- as soon as I heard it I thought "wow, this is fantastic!"... 25 years later I found it on a cheap German CD. The song is Ray Davies take on the same runaway girt subject Paul McCartney wrote about in "She's Leaving Home" without the strings and sentimentality... going to hell in a handbag and not giving a damn. I know which song I prefer...

Those are London church bells. London has *lots* of churches, with *lots* of bells.
